Learn How To Fix An Xbox
Although there are other video game consoles such as the Playstation and Wii that are available for purchase, the Xbox 360 has truly always been one of the most popular. Ever since it was first released back in 2005 the Xbox 360 system has had loyal fans and followers. This comes as no surprise as there are some fantastic games and accessories available for the Xbox but people wonder if it is truly an Xbox 360 revolution or not. There are a lot of people out there who have serious doubts and do not think that the Xbox is all it has been made up to be.
One explanation that some people have for why the Xbox 360 is no revolution is that there are limited quantities. Even now years after it was first released, the system is still on backorder at most video game stores. You may have to wait several months just to get an answer on pre-order lists so hopefully you don’t’ mind waiting. Another problem with the Xbox 360 system lies in its high cost.
Of course if you just bought the game recently it will be under warranty and you can get it fixed for free, otherwise get yourself a fine tip screwdriver and disassemble your Xbox. Be very careful as you lift the motherboard up and out, because this is the main part of your Xbox system. You drop the motherboard and break anything and you are going to see a lot more than just a red ring when you turn it back on. You need to snoop the X-clamp and then unscrew heat sink to get the CPU and GPU.
Take your time and make sure that you do not bend or break anything. You need to clean both the GPU and CPU, and this is a very critical step to getting rid of the red ring so make sure you do it right. This should be applied gently over the GPU, and be careful that you do not drip it on any other parts of the motherboard. Applying Arctic Silver thermal compound is the next step and you want to do this gently over the GPU a popular Xbox repairs.
You can get a small bottle of this stuff for under five bucks at any computer hardware shop. Once the thermal compound has set you place two nylon washers on each screw. Finally you add two more washers and reassemble the system. The red ring of death should be gone and you can begin playing again.
