While big studios continue creating expensive games, investing huge amounts on new graphic engines, flash developers keep on developing entertaining games at low budget, sometimes low as 500 dollars.

The industry likes to refer free online games as BBG (browser-based games) and as their name implies those games are mainly aimed to feature in a browser web environment.

New James Bond Game Announced By Activision

Just a few days ago, Activision announced their financial earnings for the quarter just gone. They announced that they made over $1 billion of revenue, making a massive $200 million profit just for that quarter. However, there was a hidden piece of video game news behind this announced is the possible hint of some new games dropped into the report.

Pretty deep within the report, behind all the technical talk, were some hints at new Spiderman, Tony Hawk, and James Bond games that could be on the horizon. The president of Activision, Mike Griffth, did confirm the new James Bond game, however, he failed to mention the Spiderman and Tony Hawk games. Unfortunately, very little information has been announced about the game, just that it’s being made.

The most recent Bond game was released by Activision, and it has been one of the best James Bond games so far. That game got gamers playing through 2 different films, Casino Royale and the latest one, Quantum of Solace. That game was produced by Treyarch, the master minds behind a number of Call of Duty games, most likely why it managed to get so many positive video game ratings. However, no mention to whether Treyarch would be the developers behind this new game.

Also, nothing was mentioned about what the story of the game would be based on. So basically the story could go in any direction, it could be based on an entirely new story, a story of a previous film, or possible be a prequel to a new film.

As for the other games hinted at, there have been some rumours recently about a new Spiderman film, which would come with a game no doubt so that hint is looking promising. Finally, the Tony Hawk game, I don’t think is happening because with Tony Hawk: Ride being released in November, I reckon they won’t release another so quickly after Ride. Although, you never know what they will release next, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Spiderman: WOS Review

spiderwos Spiderman: WOS Review

I have been pumped to get Spiderman: Web of Shadows.  Videos were sweet and the game play looked like fun, but after this review, I might have to pass.

Early last year, I stated that Spider-Man 2 was one of my favorite PlayStation 2 games of all time. Think about that for a second — all time. Now, I’m not telling you that it’s a better game than God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, or any of the other hundreds of great games Sony’s console brought us; what I’m saying is that Spider-Man 2 was one of my favorite games to play. Even after I had bested Doc Ock, I could swing around New York and stop crimes, gather collectables, and take in the city that never sleeps. At the time, I thought the game had laid out the perfect blueprint of what a superhero game should be, and I believed that Activision got it and would expand the idea when the next generation of systems came around.

As Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Man: Friend or Foe proved, that didn’t happen. Rather than tweak and expand a formula that was fun but flawed, Activision let the webhead slip into worse and worse titles. Now, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is upon us, and while it’s no where near the slap in the face that Spider-Man: Friend or Foe was, it’s got nothing on Spider-Man 2 either.    Ign gave it a 5.7/10 from ign.com.  Amazing and I though that this game was going to be great.
