The Helsinki-based Supercell company was started on 14 May 2010 by Ilkka Paananen. In its early days, this company used to make video games for every platform, but later they changed their strategy, and keeping in mind the future, they focused only on developing mobile games.

In the beginning, Supercell used to be a very small company as initially, only 15 people used to work in Supercell. Ilkka Paananen and his small team aimed to create a mobile game that people could play for years without getting bored. In the beginning, the company had made many different mobile games, but out of all those mobile games, the company had launched only 4 mobile games in the market because all the other mobile games were played and rejected by their developers.

The name of the first successful mobile game launched by Supercell was Hay Day which got great support from the people from the very first day. After the success of Hay Day, Ilkka Paananen and his team started working on another mobile game, codenamed Magic. When Project Magic was completed, it was named Clash of Clans.

Clash of Clans was released for iOS devices on August 2, 2012 and then after almost 1 year on October 7, 2013 the game was also launched for Android.
